Of course they can, but it’s worth noting that with file/folder hierarchies the location of a file in the hierarchy communicates meaningful information about the file. That important information can be lost if a process locates the file without traversing the hierarchy. If I move a file out of the Status Reports folder, is it still a Status Report and if so, how can a person or process determine that?
