With construction sites and their associated offices opening and closing across Australia on a weekly basis, the client identified the need to move to a modern network.

This would overcome the challenges they were experiencing with their old network, specifically:

• High-cost MPLS networks connected to end-of-life legacy environments
• End-of-life and failing network hardware
• Poor visibility of the network and application traffic
• Critical business applications with no vendor support

The client and LAB³ partnered to design and transform their network model in the cloud by:

• Implementing a modern tailored network to eliminate the client’s costly, yet preventable network issues by implementing a Cisco Meraki software-defined network with high-speed, internet-based, business-grade fibre network.
• Increasing agility. LAB³ built Sidekick (network branch-in-a-box) that enables the client to rapidly set up new offices, cost effectively and without delays in connectivity.
• Optimised IT operating model with true scalability. LAB³ reduced the client’s datacentre footprint by moving services to the Azure cloud, significantly reducing ongoing costs, and enabling the client to readily scale up and down.

In only four months, LAB³ designed a software-defined network that exceeded the client’s expectations. Many business benefits were realised within weeks of deployment including significant cost savings and seamless services across the business.
