Meet Andrey, Project Manager

For Andrey, the best career opportunities aren't the comfortable ones, they're the ones that challenge you to learn, adapt and grow.

As an early-career Project Manager, joining LAB3 has given Andrey the opportunity to accelerate his professional growth. He has embraced the challenge of working on projects involving emerging technologies, gaining experience across almost every LAB3 vertical.

Today, Andrey is engaged in a major project scaling AI across a retail enterprise. Collaborating closely with LAB3's engineers as they solve complex challenges has deepened his own passion for technology. In fact, it has inspired Andrey to explore AI in his own side projects as well.

"I'm seeing if I can create agents for my own personal life and I'm considering building my own server to build a smart home from," explained Andrey.

While studying at university, Andrey dreamed of becoming a creative in the advertising industry. However, internships at agencies helped him realise that while he loved the creative environment, the producer's role was a better fit for his strengths and interests.

He pivoted towards a career as a producer in events management and then as a project manager for digital technology companies. Only a few months into digital project management, Andrey was asked to take on oversight of his then employer's technology projects, including coordinating IT teams based in India and locally. His longstanding interest in tech helped him meet the challenge.

“I've always been a techy at heart. When I was younger, I used to game a lot and spent hours building my own computers and tinkering with software.”

What attracted Andrey to LAB3 was the opportunity to better understand the technical foundations behind the digital platforms he had been working on. "The backend, the architecture and cybersecurity, these were areas I wanted to learn more about," said Andrey.

Joining LAB3 came with a learning curve, but Andrey found the transition smoother than expected. "There was a lot to get up to speed with as a new starter, but it helped there was really good documentation. This made it relatively easy to pick up the processes and understand how LAB3 delivers projects," said Andrey.

From day one, he found both his fellow Project Managers and the broader engineering team were approachable and willing to share their knowledge.

“LAB3 engineers and our clients' teams are unified in their motivation to achieve the best possible results for our clients. Everyone is highly collaborative and respectful of what every person brings to the project regardless of seniority.”

As a self-confessed morning person, another aspect about LAB3 which Andrey appreciates is the remote work model and the flexibility to structure his day around when he is most productive.

“My brain is firing first thing in the morning. I like to roll out of bed, pour a big coffee and get straight on the computer around seven, getting stuck into the busy work before the daily stand-ups, meetings and troubleshooting begins.”
